I was thinking, it would be interesting if you had to pick a favorite car from your birth year. It does not need to be produced after your birthday, for example some cars are half year production models, but you were born in the first half. Just the year has to match.

Mine is a 1977 Datsun 280Z. Pic pulled from some random place on the internet.

I just found out about the Volvo LCP 2000 concept from 1983, and I am going to nominate that one. It was Volvo's Light Component Project, with 1.3 and 1.4l turbocharged diesel engines with 50 and 90 hp respectively. But they styling is awesome (just look at that hatch!) and had some CF in the body. Go Swedes!

But they all suck. My friend had an AE86. It was slow and my dad's Rav4 took corners quicker (albeit with tons more squeal), the Starion looked good but everything broke off (damn you chrysler), and the Z31 looked stoned.

Did your friend know how to drive? Yes it is under powered but I highly doubt that a Rav4 would corner quicker. 115 hp in the 80s isn't too shabby though for an econo coupe.
